Finally. After a long time, I got my first DSLR last friday! Can’t really tell you how excited I am. Like a little boy who got a new toy š
Canon EOS 200D with a 18 – 55mm lens is what I got. It’s a pretty standard camera for a beginner.
This doesn’t mean that I will be quitting taking photos with my phone, no no no. I still will be having my phone with me everywhere I go, but I won’t be carrying my camera with me everywhere.
I already took two days to get familiar with my camera and I love it! Great night shooting capabilities, easy to transfer photos between a camera and a phone and it’s really light for a DSLR (only 456g without any lens).
The reason I decided to get a DSLR was, that I used up all the things I could get out from the camera on my phone. Sometimes there comes a time when you face limitations with the tools you use, and it’s in that moment you realise that it’s a time for an upgrade.
This is the photo I took today, just to test it out a bit ā
Hopefully this will up my photography game! šš» I also feel more motivated to take photos because of all the new capabilities and options!
That’s all the rant for today! I hope you enjoy reading my posts, even when they are just me sharing my personal joys š
I will see you next time!

You have picked the right kit for your first move up. That camera can start you out simple and still have enough options to help you grow. The lens is a favorite of many Canon shooters.
It will get frustrating at times but stick with it. Photography at the next level can be very rewarding.

Thank you for the insight! That’s one of the reasons I ended up buying 200D. I like to progress gradually, and when I again feel the need to upgrade, then I’ll look at new options. 800D was my second option, but I thought it didn’t make that big of a difference specs-wise to be my first camera.
